Comment / The relegated Newcastle United football team returns to Newcastle from Birmingham courtesy of ScotAirways' G-BYMK, just a few hours on from their 1-0 defeat at Villa Park to Aston Villa. As the colour scheme gives away, G-BYMK is usually employed on more regular duties, flying on behalf CityJet between London City, Dundee and Edinburgh.

Comment / Rockwell Commander G-FLPI was involved in an incident at Newcastle this lunchtime. It is photographed here nose-down to the south of the runway, though thankfully no injuries are reported.

Comment / Saga Airlines are regular visitors to Newcastle this summer, operating to Turkey on behalf of Scottravel with their Boeing 737-400s and -800s. TC-SGD is seen arriving here, wearing a basic Air Algerie scheme following a recent spell on lease to the African carrier.

Comment / Airbus A319 G-EZFH positioned up from Gatwick on 21st May to become the sixth aircraft for easyJet based at Newcastle this summer. Incidentally, sister-ship G-EZFF, which has been Newcastle-based since delivery in March, is down at Luton at the moment receiving attention from engineers after suffering a lightening strike.

Comment / Climbing away from Newcastle's runway 07 on another charter, this time to Salzburg.

Comment / Delivered on 27th March earlier this year, G-FDZR was the first aircraft to be painted up in the livery of the newly-formed Thomson Airways. The new carrier, the product of the amalgamation of Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways on 1st November 2008, can trace its history back to 1961 and the formation of Euravia, the first trading name of Britannia Airways.

Comment / A shiny new Boeing 737 indeed - check out the reflections of the wing on the fuselage!

Comment / Positioning into Newcastle from London Gatwick as the Monarch 365P.

Comment / Captured at the point of rotation from Newcastle's runway 25, destination Orlando Sanford.
